Contrary
to popular media campaign admin of energy.com.pk looks to
the option as a panic decision to meet the energy shortage.
This is natural that once such decisions are made then many
small loop holes remained which can be scandalized later.
However it should be appreciated that the Government is looking
the problem seriously.
Producing
energy with fossile fuel today becoming expensive. Using gas
as cheap fuel is a cosmetic option because gas prices are
being kept artificially lower. So it does not matter that
where governmnet is offering subsidy.Under such circumstrances
it should be appreciated that some power plants will be avilable
which can produce enough power for the next year.
The
bottom line is that how much the government is paying for
one unit of electricity. If it remain firm to 11.5 cents for
next five years and then if any hidden charges are included. Are
there some ambiguities in the contract where the unit charges
can be increased in due course of time these points should
be well documented.
Good
news is that we will have some source of power avilable on
fast track basis. But again government should investigate
that if the power plants which are not producing required
capacity should be maintained properly to enable them to produce
at least 90% of rated capacity.
This
is just a temporary decision. Pakistan needs energy for the
future. This is top most priority for its survival and its
goal for the success and better life style for all its population.
Coal power projects are the one option which can solve its
all problems. And this should be given top priority. Hydro
power projects ehich were announced in private sector should
be pushed for the fast track implementaion, and the freinds
should be pursuaded for provided 5000 MW neuclear power plants. |
