We are interested to order 100 MW thermal power plant . Please advise if internal combustion engines or gas turbines are more suitable. ... ?

[The choice of internal combustion engines v/s Gas turbine will be  strictly on your environmental conditions and the offers you will receive from the suppliers. thermal efficiency of internal  combustion engines are higher than gas turbines but once the exhaust is used to produce steam which drives steam turbine and produce electricity the plants known as combined cycle plants and become compatible or even advantageous . Therefore we strongly recommend to carefully check heat value of both machines along with the financial offer. Gas turbines efficiency deteriorates with increase of ambient temperatures. therefore all calculations should be made on maximum ambient temperatures For captive power plants which require steam for their processing units gas turbines offers a better solution.

as a general rule larger gas turbines are more favorable for power plants of 200 MW and up sizes .]

What is renewable energy?

[When compared to fissile fuels which once burned produce energy and then dissipate in to gases and then can not be brought back, renewable energies which are not depleting after consumption. for example we have sunlight providing energy and which can be converted by Photo voltaic PV cells. by sun llight the earth surfaces becomes heated and cooled, this results the wind to blow. the wind turbines operated by the wind also renewable energy.]
